Auntie Ruth will be hanging up her heels for the last time on 31st December 2015...
After thirty three years of socialising, partying and making some amazing memories (some of which we have had some trouble piecing together!) the time has come for her to move on to new adventures.
Auntie has been an incredible host over the years – helping us celebrate all the important milestones that life brings and making sure we have had much fun in doing so! People have met, laughed and partied; formed relationships, got married, had children who in turn have become members and who took on the baton to become Northampton’s Party Cavalry. However, all good things have to come to an end, and now is the time to bring the curtain down.
Over the last four decades Auntie Ruth’s (which started as The Black Bottom Club) has welcomed entertainment royalty to the stage: starting as a Jazz Club with strong links with New Orleans, she hosted the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the likes of Sam Lee, Sammy Rimington, The Rebirth, Steve Gibbons, Otis Grand and the Big Town Playboys as well as being home to The Ginger Pig Band. More recently Amy Winehouse and Jimmy Carr graced us with their presence as well as many top DJ’s. Her parties have been renowned and these memories will stay with us forever……..who will forget partying with The Saints as they celebrated being European Champions in 2000!
Our New Year’s Eve party marks one last hurrah, making the biggest night of the year even more special. The Decade’s Party will return for one more night after a sell-out revival in June. Spanning the three decades that Auntie was partying, 80’s, 90’s and 00’s – she is sure to be going out in style!
The support the venue has received over the past four decades has been overwhelming and from all of us, we thank you all for doing what you do best – getting together and showing Auntie how you party!
With her head held high, and a tear in her eye, it’s time to say goodbye.
We have had a blast………….
